I used to speak my mind online a lot more. Somewhere along the way I started keeping my mind to myself. My peace became more valuable than being heard or understood.

So today a homeless guy outside a pizza spot asked me if I could buy him something to eat. He said he was hungry, and without really thinking twice I told him, “Yeah, okay.” Then immediately after that, he starts telling me his order preferences 😭 Talking about, “I like extra cheese and pepperoni.” Mind you… I was already doing this out of kindness, not because I’m DoorDash. So I went inside and bought him a regular cheese slice. Nothing crazy, but still food. I come back out, hand it to him, and this man looks at the pizza, looks at me, and goes, “I said I like extra cheese and pepperoni.” The entitlement almost took me OUT. So I looked right back at him and said, “You can take it or leave it.” And instead of just accepting the slice, he….

@Her_Nonymous_D What I took away from the experience was an invitation to see the human behind the person who is struggling, and realize they are likely very short on opportunities to have something they want vs. what they can get.

@Her_Nonymous_D …and my initial offer to get him what I decided he would get meant it wasn’t really an act of human kindness I was saying yes to, it was me taking an opportunity to feel good about myself for giving charity on my terms and making decisions for someone else.

It’s strange how the healthiest people I know are also the most distrustful of the healthcare system people I know. Someone should look into this dynamic.

For those ready to hear it: Using the arm of government to reduce the liberties of others is pushing a pendulum of power that will always come back to hit you in the face. You cannot take choice from others without removing choice for yourself.

Remember, it’s not a “right” unless somebody can piss you off with it. If everyone agrees then we don’t have rights, we have conformity. And that ain’t the same thing.

Imagine if we all agreed that the government has no place mandating, banning, and/or coercing personal medical decisions? ALL personal medical decisions.
