“If proof is a story, then a memorable proof must tell a ripping yarn...when I can really feel the power of a mathematical storyline, something happens in my mind that I can never forget.” - Ian Stewart #EDUC469B
Final take away, as I reflect on the past two weeks is how I can connect with all my learners. I am reminded how small changes to how we teach can benefit not one but all our learners. Take the time to find ways to differentiate and help all learners succeed!@MacEachern72
While individual interventions are important, classwide interventions for students with ADHD can benefit the whole class and help to limit singling out one student. They can encourage more on task, positive behaviour for all! @MacEachern72
Provide opportunities for all students to succeed through choice activities. Think tac toe is a creative way to differentiate instruction and give choice to students while meeting outcomes. @MacEachern72
When creating enrichment opportunities for gifted students it is important to find out their interest and provide them with a mentor who is an expert in that area. Not an expert in their area of interest? Seek out people in your community! @MacEachern72
Day 2 of Math 513. Math anxiety exists for many of our students regardless of gender. It is our job as teachers to break the gender stereotype that girls are typically bad at math, praise their success and equip our students with strategies to reduce anxiety! @MacEachern72
Day 1 of 6 Math 513. Teamwork and collaboration are key when problem solving. The bridge building challenge demonstrated how math can be connected to other areas of the curriculum. Looking forward to learning more about adapting lessons for diverse learners. @MacEachern72
