Does anyone else agree with me that Amazon is a total fail on the copywriting front? If they actually employed someone with basic writing skills to write product descriptions with some emotional appeal, they could raise prices by 10% and sell more.
They don't need to become the J Peterman catalogue, but just make an effort.

@FrankLuntz @Gallup Would be great to see this time series overlayed with the time series on inflation and unemployment rate. My guess is that it would identify a BIG disconnect. Why?

The share of Americans who say their financial situation is getting worse (55%) is higher now than at any point in the past 25 years.

Iran’s upper hand?
The press is at it again. Iran has the upper hand now. Iran will collect billions in tolls. Trump is backed into a corner. Iran has once again won and they will be even tougher now
As they have at every turn they have systematically undermined America and pushed Iranian propaganda and it keeps getting worse.
First, the Biden administration negotiated with Iran for 4 years and what did they get? Spit. And they effectively let Iran off the hook and Iran collected billions of dollars they used to build missiles and enrich Uranium.
Today, they are coming to the table minus most of their leadership, without a Navy, without a functioning nuclear program, with no air defenses, their proxies in ruins, down 90 per cent in functioning missiles, shot down a single plane in 18,000 missions, are having to execute their own people and keep the internet off to prevent people from overthrowing them. And there is a huge armada circling them.
Yup. They got us right where they wanted us. Our negotiators have no leverage at all.
Because if you listen to mainstream media analysis they can send some drones to increase oil prices on a temporary basis until they face another round of devastation and new leadership.
Reality is they are at the table because they had nowhere to go and they alienated all the neighboring countries and Trump has always made clear that like the symbol of America itself he holds olive branches in one hand and arrows in the other.
If Iran does not realize this is not the Biden administration they are dealing with, these negotiations will be over fairly quickly and there will be another round of military action and we will see where they are then.

THIS IS THE CHART THEY WILL SHOW IN DOCUMENTARIES. A 94% CRASH. $4.3 BILLION IN LOSSES. ZERO ARRESTS. AND A DINNER INVITATION.
Look at that chart. $48 to $2.81. A 94% collapse. That is not a bear market. That is a liquidation event disguised as a political movement.
The $TRUMP token launched January 17, 2025. Three days later he was sworn into office. Within weeks, 810,000 wallets had lost a combined $2 billion. By 2026, total retail losses crossed $4.3 billion across nearly two million wallets.
For every $1 insiders earned, retail investors lost $20.
The Trump family and affiliated entities collected over $600 million through fees and token sales. Trading fees alone generated $100 million in the first 19 days. Exchanges banked another $172 million. And 94% of the token supply sat in just 40 wallets from the start.
This was a memecoin where the creator became the President of the United States, then dismantled the SEC's entire crypto enforcement division, closed every active investigation, paused every pending case, and then hosted an exclusive gala dinner for the biggest holders at his golf club while protesters outside shouted "Shame."
43% of the guests at that dinner were underwater on their investment.
Now there is a second gala planned for April 25 at Mar-a-Lago. The token hit an all-time low of $2.73 the day they announced it. And there is still $2.7 billion in insider tokens locked until 2028. That is not a vesting schedule. That is a countdown to the next wave of selling pressure.
Meanwhile the MELANIA token is down 99%.
No regulator intervened. No enforcement action was filed. The one agency that could have acted had its crypto division gutted by the very administration that launched the token. A bill was proposed to ban officials from issuing memecoins. It went nowhere.
In any other context this would be called a pump and dump with presidential immunity. Instead it got a dinner invitation.

america is one of very few countries that has even tried to build a multiethnic democracy at scale, & the fact that it has a visible, loud, ongoing discourse about racism is actually evidence of relatively low tolerance for it compared to countries where racial hierarchy is just... ambient & unremarked upon.
japan (lol very obvious now), korea, much of europe, india's caste system, han chauvinism in china, ethnic dynamics across the gulf states.. most of these societies don't even have the vocabulary for the conversation america tortures itself over daily.
america is quite literally is one of the least if not the least racist countries on the planet, & it's not even close.

War Resolve
In the past, casualties were the important and real limiting factor in any war.
Today, people are worked up over a transitory increase in the price of gasoline and the most evil regime on earth is banking its survival on the West being more concerned about money than lives.
Consequently they even execute teenagers without fair trials to create fear among the population to prevent an uprising. And the global anger is over gas prices not the executions.
It will take resolve to see it through. The Iranians appear to have enough command and control left to launch desperate attacks on the region and suppress people at home. The aims of the operation have not been met until that chain is broken and the regime can no longer inflict terror on the world. And that may well take another month or so to accomplish and so the world will have to decide if it can withstand a temporary bump in gas prices to rid us of one of its most evil actors whose despicable actions are even more evident each passing day. Hopefully we can find that resolve because the good of ridding the world of this regime, ending its terror network and ending its threats against the West far outweigh a spike at the pump that will quickly be forgotten once this is finished.

@JeremyDSchwartz 6/ The more likely scenario if AI systems can be replicated at near-zero marginal cost?
1) A small number of capital owners deploy scalable digital labor.
2) Human labor becomes less essential at the margin.
3) Income concentrates.

@JeremyDSchwartz 5/ If 1 radiologist (to take just one example) can oversee 3–5× as many cases, radiology doesn’t vanish, but radiology headcount shrinks.
None of the “shocks” he references automated cognition.

A tip from a recent trip to NYC during the snowstorm, @rorysutherland.
Taking the subway from the Yale Club to Penn Station, you end up walking for over half the 0.8 mile trip.
Much of what’s billed as rapid transit isn’t rapid, and much billed as mass transit is individual.
