One thing I managed to see through to its launch is a brand new course on @parallax_media_! "Integral Time: Intimations of a New Worldview." parallax-media.com/courses/integr… This course is completely new, and rather experimental--both something of an introduction to Jean Gebser's life and work but, also, a kind of 'applied Gebser,' where we will unpack the fuller implications of an 'integral' consciousness of time and its double-relevance for our ecological and economic crises. Some of the materials I'm drawing from are sourced from the concluding chapters of my manuscript (which is almost complete now). Register for the course here! parallax-media.com/courses/integr…

Nobody fully believes Dems are serious about fixing the affordability crisis because nobody fully believes Dems are willing to offend their donors who are creating the affordability crisis. Dems’ donor fealty has created a credibility gap. It’s their biggest political problem.

The left has been arguing for years—literal decades—that the designation “terrorist” was bound to be expanded to refer to anyone someone in power disagreed with. It is a term without referent or definition. Really libs should listen sometimes.

correction: very cool that the HOUSE just renewed ICE's budget with absolutely zero concessions. Senate can still stop it x.com/AOC/status/201…
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez@AOC

@kenklippenstein This is incorrect. Congress has not yet renewed ICE’s budget. House voted but Senate hasn’t yet. They need 10 Dem votes in the Senate. We can still stop it

Congress is not powerless. Democrats must unify around an actual agenda. 1. Vote no on DHS funding bill. 2. Repeal the multi-year $75 billion funding for ICE. 3. End qualified immunity for ICE agents. 4. Investigate and prosecute every single ICE agent who broke the law. 5. Impeach Noem and Bondi. 6. End the Kavanaugh stops with racial profiling and end the militarization of ICE. 7. Codify a use of force standard so courts can enforce the law against rogue ICE agents. 8. Tear down and replace ICE with an agency that has oversight. Trump is engaged in the SYSTEMATIC destruction of the rule of law. Only if Congress fights with every legal tool at our disposal including lawsuits in the courts, like we are doing with the Epstein files, can we stop this madness. We owe that to nurse Pretti and the hundreds of thousands on the streets risking their lives to stand up for our freedoms.

We must be bilingual even in a single language, we must have a minor language inside our own language, we must create a minor use of our own language… Proust says: ‘Great literature is written in a sort of foreign language…’ That is the definition of style. —Deleuze, Dialogues

@dbessner Insightful. Wouldn’t the democratization of work (& not just labor wins) towards distributed ownership of capital/assets, such as worker coops, be one such strategy? Thinking of Wolfe, etc.

In case you missed it: a little noticed Florida state dashboard showed several instances of immigration enforcement arresting U.S. citizens. When the Miami New Times asked about it, most of those arrests disappeared from the dashboard and public view.

Florida’s immigration crackdown dashboard reportedly showed the arrests of 21 U.S. citizens—until a local paper asked questions. trib.al/rVpik2o

Today is the fifth anniversary of Michael's passing so, instead of a regular Philosophy for the People essay, I reprinted the introduction I wrote three years ago for @MattPolProf's book on Michael's cosmopolitan socialism, with permission from Matt and the publisher.

If we are already in relation with latent futures, it behooves us all to aspire towards greater degrees of agency in the face of technocratic dehumanization, presence in the face of rampant clock-time, and freedom in the face of spiritual estrangement.
