A blue moon event: A reddit thread where people are gushing with love and respect for Indians instead of the usual racism. Wholesome thanks for the countless tutorials made by Indians in so many niche things on YouTube. reddit.com/r/meme/s/lNXvG…

The Maha Ashtami Pushpanjali mantras seem different to me every year and in different Puja Mandaps. Are there no standard mantras? Or do they depend on the Purohit leading the Pushpanjali?

An extremely important article on "Swadeshi software" by someone who's contributed to OS dev himself. In this day and age of libraries/modules, can any software even be 100% Swadeshi. Is that even necessary? Perhaps it is the ecosystem around the software that matters more.

@HimanshuS_kgp My simple advice: Don't. I have seen your writing. It is more than good enough. Try to incorporate authenticity instead of cookie cutter sentences.

@jeevanjyoti Right around the time I am writing my SoP for the PhD applications, and facing this dilemma of whether to use such tools or not, and to what extent.

You can use all the AI you want in writing. But what about speaking? You're on your own! ✍️ An essay in my new blog post on: ➡️Why it is still important to learn the art of composition? ➡️How it can help speaking/presentation? jchakraborty.wordpress.com/2025/09/23/you…

Among the lovely Teachers' Day wishes I have been receiving since morning, I received one where the student wished it in the form of a poem:

@Kaju_Nut Very clearly put. Seen this happen to myself. In lectures, I am fairly confident and definite. But in my advice videos on YouTube, I am slow, halting, and hedge my sentences. A few times, people have commented asking me to speak more confidently!

Under-appreciated fact: in low-transparency, low-objectivity areas like geopolitics or self help, confidence is a signal of phoniness. In high-transparency high-objectivity areas like math, confidence signals authority because in these areas anyone bullshitting is caught and punished. The more performatively authoritative someone is in an uncertain field, the more likely they are to be a phony. Real experts in such areas are tentative because they are aware of the limits of their knowledge.

Learnt about Dunbar's Number. It is about 150 for humans. Would be a fun(?!) exercise to figure out who these 150 are in each of our lives.

@jeevanjyoti I've read the original on your website and that felt more engaging. The title is same as yours even in the quoted post.
