Thinking about education today while giving state exams, how it’s like a road trip with random strangers who pop open the doors, knife the tires, while complaining the car is going nowhere and the trip sucks. Thinking about the other kids in the car who just want to go somewhere

@fairieteeth If you’re a PI pursuing questions that both groups can provide tests of ideas for, sure. Some stuff requires a lot of specialization to get there and would be x2, but other things the tools overlap. Eg, acoustic biology (frogs & birds)

By far one of the biggest fumble of state identity is the state birds. Especially Texas and Florida which have so many unique birds, and yet, still choose the mockingbird 💀

@fairieteeth When I lived in CO, back roads were #1. Local state park was 5 min drive, nearest NF/BLM was 20-30 min. Depends on what I was in the mood for. If you live there, whatever is closest is best. If you’re visiting, many larger towns have protected areas nearby with varied topography
