turbopuffer crossed $100M run-rate in March. 19mo after $1M. Profitable & <$1M raised. Cursor・Anthropic・Notion・Cognition・Harvey・Bridgewater・Ramp・Linear・Legora・Superhuman・Atlassian・Granola We’d be nowhere without them. We work like hell to exceed their expectations.

Building serverless vector search on top of object storage (like S3). Fast and 10x cheaper. Pretty fascinating idea. I talked with @turbopuffer CEO @Sirupsen about how they're pulling it off New episode out now! youtu.be/K3ivDkMEclg

Semantic search improves our agent's accuracy across all frontier models, especially in large codebases where grep alone falls short. Learn more about our results and how we trained an embedding model for retrieving code.

I think @turbopuffer is a 100x better product over the S3 Vectors product that was announced today: - TP APIs/DX is superb - TP has traditional search capabilities - TP is honest about recall (red flag for S3 Vector announcement) TP has a cracked team, I wish them all success.

Why am I saving wisdom? “Right now as we speak, more vital Internet is being deleted than is being created”—Brian Roemmele, 2023 We are the Amnesia Generation. Please SaveWisdom.org. Please let us not go quite into the dark night…
Brian Roemmele@BrianRoemmele

As I said for over 3 decades and few cared to understand: We are moving from the Information Age to the Amnesia Age. The Internet Archive has been attacked and the aim is to delete it. DO YOU HEAR ME NOW. Any large ethical AI company that does not come to aid—is worthless.

I am rather certain yours are the first eyes to see this VHS tape in over 40 years. It was in a massive pile of discarded VHS tapes at Goodwill. No they could not sell them at 1¢ for 10. I feel I can write a book about what I found encoding this in to YOUR AI. Get ready:
Brian Roemmele@BrianRoemmele

Sometimes going through 1000s of discarded VHS tapes I am using to train YOUR AI, well I get some things I just can’t explain. I am not encoding this.

@HamelHusain and I are thinking about teaching a four-session, cohort-based course on LLM fine-tuning for data scientists and software engineers. We set up this survey to gauge interest: maven.com/forms/28ad73 If you take the survey, we'll make sure you're the first to hear when enrollments open. There's a lot of academic material out there on fine-tuning, but there's very little showing you how to succeed hands-on with the latest tools. We'll help you learn practical skills to fine-tune LLMs with Axolotl, evaluate results and build broader fine-tuning workflows.

Startup idea: Social media, but for language learners. You post in your language of choice. The algorithm learns your language level and shows you content from other people that will help you learn.
