@ratkingnow You want a surefire way to get your players to know he's a bad guy? Have your antagonist abuse an animal. I had a caravan guard kick a stray dog in one of my games. That guard had a very very bad day once the PC's got a hold of him.

@ratkingnow What makes a great villian to me is that the villian believes that they're in the right. I had a campaign in ages past where the PC'S defected to the BBEG'S cause, I guess I was far too eloquent at the time. They joined forces to overthrow the rightful king.
