Out of the hundreds of papers I read last year, this one could be the most GAME-CHANGING! Demodex mites (cousins to dust mites) likely fuel issues like rosacea, acne, dry eyes, and even chronic nasal congestion. Infestation with these mites, most commonly on the face, is extremely common. But here's the the most important finding - applying plain Vaseline to your eyelids at night could be a SAFE, CHEAP and EFFECTIVE fix, trapping these critters and slashing their numbers. Doctor's, consider a 28-day Vaseline trial for your patients. If effective, this simple hack might save billions on indefinite treatments. pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC12…

@DrPaulMason @trevorsmithmd This is the easier solution: xdemvy.com. I did this for 6 weeks before getting lasik and my optometrist said I went from having "moderate" demodex mites to basically zero.

@trevorsmithmd I couldn't find much in the medical literature suggesting it is not safe for application to the eye lids. Perhaps you can link the research. Other alternatives, which include topical ivermectin and 5% tea tree oil also risk some irritation.

Today, 90%+ of healthcare spend (all $4.5T of it) goes towards treating chronic conditions after someone is sick. Less than 3% of that spend goes towards prevention. @Truemed exists to get more people investing in True Medicine. Exercise, food, supplements, movement, sleep, toxin removal… lifestyle interventions that help people treat and prevent disease, not just treat the symptoms of underlying sickness. We’re building tools that allow qualified individuals to unlock the $160B in tax-free HSA/FSA funds, and use them on these root-cause interventions. Since launching just 2.5 years ago, we’ve helped almost a million individuals pay for these interventions, and we’re just getting started. If we want to fix healthcare in America, we fundamentally have to help Americans get healthier. I’m extremely proud to announce our $34M Series A led by a16z, and am excited to continue our work to end the chronic disease crisis.

🚨 Healthy airport food is finally here. Kitava just opened in Terminal 1 at @flySFO — the first restaurant at an international airport serving meals and snacks 100% free of seed oils, gluten, and refined sugar. Grateful to the Kitava team for making this dream a reality 🙏

MAKING THE PO' BOY GREAT AGAIN: Louisiana just became the first state to ENFORCE honesty about industrial seed oils at restaurants Starting Jan 1 2028, every restaurant, food truck & café that cooks with: Canola, soy, corn, sunflower, safflower, cottonseed, grapeseed or rice-bran oil Must print one clear line on every menu, drive-thru board, wall sign, website, app: “Some menu items may contain or be prepared using seed oils.” Based on our data, this is essentially every restaurant in the state, but it's a step in the right direction and great work by the MAHA coalition & Protect LA Values 🫡

Seed oil-free hotels are here. Proper Hospitality just became the first national hotel brand in the world to go 100% seed oil-free. The hotel group now uses only extra virgin olive oil, avocado oil, and coconut oil, plus Zero Acre oil for fried dishes. forbes.com/sites/ronaberg…

Not only is the U.S. enjoying fewer years of healthy life compared to other developed countries, we are alarmingly not improving, year after year. In other words, while most countries are doing well and getting even better, the U.S. is doing badly and getting even worse.

Linoleic acid is the most abundant polyunsaturated fatty acid in the Western-style diet and has been implicated in promoting inflammation and cancer. In Science, researchers report a mechanism by which linoleic acid can activate the mTORC1 protein kinase, which coordinates growth and nutrient signals. Seed oil fatty acid (linoleic) "promotes the growth of an aggressive type of breast cancer." A pre-clinical study by Weill Cornell Medicine Specifically, linoleic "enhances the growth of the hard-to-treat “triple negative” breast cancer subtype." Remember, in large, NIH-funded clinical trials where saturated fats were replaced with seed oils, subjects on seed oils consistently died at higher rates from cancer.

The U.S. is the only developed country in the world experiencing a consistent decrease in healthspan (health-adjusted life expectancy, which measures years of life without chronic disease/disability). Whatever we've been doing for the last 15 years, it isn't working.
