Why would we? Thats very rough terrain up there are is far larger a space than the Panama Canal. We are also the (disputed) global hegemon, so we don’t need it. Panama is well within our sphere of influence, so it’s not like they can realistically tell us “No, you can’t use that”.

Mary Carole McDonnell is wanted for her alleged involvement in a fraud scheme in Los Angeles and Orange Counties in California. Beginning in approximately July of 2017, and continuing to May of 2018, McDonnell is alleged to have knowingly, and with the intent to defraud, devised and participated in a scheme to obtain money, funds, assets, and property owned by Banc of California. Through this scheme, McDonnell allegedly and fraudulently obtained a total of approximately $14.7 million from the bank to which she knew she was not entitled and has not paid back. It is alleged that McDonnell also defrauded additional financial institutions in a similar fashion, with an estimated loss of over $15 million. McDonnell falsely claims to be an heir to the McDonnell Aircraft Family, with an $80 million secret trust to which she will purportedly have access. Investigators believe McDonnell may be currently in Dubai continuing to perpetrate fraud. McDonnell has ties to Los Angeles, California; Montgomery, Alabama; and Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Why would we bother to spend hundreds of millions of dollars on that? I ran his promised, literally promised to obliterate Israel. It is entirely about nuclear weapons and the nuclear fuel for weapons Iran claimed to have. They literally said they had enough for seven bombs. Of course it is expanding because I ran uses those ships to block the strait of hormuz. One strategy I ran is trying is to block the flow of oil to the world. Taking out those ships, including the one coming back from India, will help to keep that straight open because 20% of the world’s oil flows through it.

If confirmed, striking a vessel that large would be a significant step in the naval side of this conflict. So far most of the fighting has centered on missiles, drones, and air defense. Direct hits on major naval assets suggest the maritime dimension of the war may be expanding. Worth watching how Iran responds at sea.

U.S. forces aren't holding back on the mission to sink the entire Iranian Navy. Today, an Iranian drone carrier, roughly the size of a WWII aircraft carrier, was struck and is now on fire.
