I was a young man when the Central Park 5 were convicted, not much older than the five young men who were wrongly convicted of the heinous attack on a jogger. trump took out a full page ad in four newspapers, stating those boys should be given the death penalty. They were exonerated by DNA and a confession by the man who was solely responsible in 2002, after most of them had already lost at least 7 years of their lives in prison. In 2019, trump would not walk back his position, he STILL believed they were guilty. Now, trump will likely be arraigned in the same building that the Central Park Five were. Dr. Yusef Salaam, one of the members of that group of exonerated men, issued a one word statement about the indictment: "Karma."

A Utah parent has utilized a new law that permits the removal of "pornographic" books from school libraries and requested the removal of the Bible, which they referred to as "one of the most sex-ridden books around." The parent, who has chosen to remain anonymous for privacy reasons, submitted an appeal on December 11th along with an eight-page list of Bible passages that they found objectionable and deemed worthy of review. The parent argued that the Bible contained topics such as incest, bestiality, genital mutilation, and infanticide, making it pornographic under the new definition set forth in Utah Code Ann. § 76-10-1227 and therefore without serious value for minors. A GOP lawmaker expressed sadness regarding the situation.

I have never posted about this, mainly for the safety of my spouse & family. But, she has asked me to share in this extremely pivotal moment. We live in TN. My spouse is an OB/GYN and every time she does an abortion to save someones life, she commits a class C felony.

She could be charged and if so, she’d lose her license and could face 3-15 years in prison if 12 jurors who are not trained physicians disagreed that the care she provided was life saving. Women and doctors in TN need exceptions to the abortion ban.

My wife has asked that all and anybody in my social media realm please contact TN senators and house reps to express support for SB 745 and HB 883 which would create exceptions to the abortion ban if the life of the mother was at risk or the pregnancy was futile.
