@weak_spell ..and redbull was competitive. My point here was that Newey is not failing in this era, Honda can't give him a strong engine. If he was at Redbull now, they'd not struggle on the chassis side as they are. They never did in his era.

@weak_spell Energy management is monitored and controlled by the FIA , there is a limit in recovery and deployment. The strength of the Merc engines in that era was the ICE. When other manufacturers caught up, difference was the aero, Honda in that case supplied good engines thus VER won.

Given Newey’s history and the eras of regulations he has dominated in everyone knew he was going to fail at these ones. Staying wouldn’t have helped

Redbull's current performance just shows how Newey and Horner were important cogs in Redbull. Max did not lose talent overnight. The car became terrible.

A lot of things are being put under the "deployment issue" umbrella, and it's unsurprising that not everyone understands how complicated the power demand rules are. This isn't an "issue" in the usual sense of the word, but rather oddities in the regulations being exposed by the near 50/50 power split.
Sometimes, the way the driver uses the throttle pedal induces "deployment issues." We already saw what happened when a moment that usually proves inconsequential ruined Leclerc's SQ3 lap in China.
In this case, Hadjar, who is lifting through 130R to manage tyres, is affected by the quirks of the power demand rules.
The MGU-K must give at least 200 kW of electrical power for 1 second when he goes from lifting to beyond 98% throttle. Throttle position >98% is defined as the power-limited pending period.
What accentuates the issues for Isack here, is that from 130R to Casio Triangle - where cars typically harvest when not attacking - instead of recovering energy, it spends an extra couple seconds deploying it. He is left completely exposed on the subsequent straight because it used energy when it was supposed to recover it.
It's easy to fix in this case. Don't lift on the next laps. Where it becomes tricky is when the driver uses the throttle in a way that doesn't necessarily help the "issue" due to their driving habits, or trying to push a little harder at some points.
It's precisely this thats frustrating so many drivers. Because they don't really know they're doing something "wrong." The reason its become such a prominent aspect is because of the need to have 100% optimal deployment all the time, the product of a 50/50 power split.

This doesn’t look so easy now does it

@jeffshady_ It's amazing to see 3 teams fighting up front so early in the new cycle of regs.

@The__RA2511 The issue for redbull is not the PU , it's the chassis. Their engine is arguably 2nd best. Great top speed, great deployment but can't be used by a car with no grip at all.

@TheColbster94 @there_is_no_if You can't have conversations like these with people who lack basic critical thinking skills 😂

@there_is_no_if @jeffshady_ Getting the updates is not preferential treatment when the team is still unsure of their development path. It means he's trusted to get more reliable data as they learn what parts work and dont work.

@jeffshady_ @there_is_no_if No, that won’t wash
Not when Maxie fans threw 💩at Lewis all last year when you could see the Ferrari was undriveable.
Max is struggling to adapt to a car that can’t be front loaded as he likes to drive and his teammate is beating him.
Simply lovely
