@matt_levine speaking my language. What we call a "bank" is changing. If I want to lend my savings (to earn a return), I'll do that myself and I'll take the yield. Fractional reserve banks have been doing this on our behalf, eating the spread. It used to be near impossible to match borrowers and lenders, but that's just not the case anymore. Narrow banking is an inevitability.
