@jeffygolf @HomesterGolfshp This is one of the most powerful swings. Love Jack's 60's swing more than the 70's. He seemed to me to have more of the soft knees later in his career.

Jack Nicklaus using a long drive, vertical force move! Rarely did we see Nicklaus blast out of his lead leg like this.

@MiracleSwing @HomesterGolfshp Not his normal finish. The swing overall doesn’t change. Hogan when he wanted to hit it full would straighten the left knee. When he wanted a softer shot, he maintained the knee flex

@MiracleSwing @HomesterGolfshp You need to take a closer look. In the early 1960s he finished with the left knee pretty straight. By the late ‘60s he would straighten the left knee around impact then immediately flex it. He said he did that to protect his left knee from injury.

@GreenJobsUSA1 @MiracleSwing No Lee wasn’t. Hogan in his prime had one of the best short games, including putting. You don’t dominate number of wins and Vardon trophy like Hogan did without one.

Who’s the better ball striker, Hogan or Trevino? 🤔

@MiracleSwing Jack said both were the best. Lee could manufacture more shots, Hogan was better going from point A to point B.

I’m working hard on my Hogan fundamentals for a secret project. Any suggestions? Granted, it’s impossible to exactly duplicate anyone else’s swing.

@NickRaffaele53 @MiracleSwing Jack shrunk too. So what? Why would that matter to any thinking person? Who cares how tall those legends were in there 80s? Good grief…

@jeffygolf @MiracleSwing Why? Because for Christo to get in the positions he’s desiring he need longer length and flatter lie … I wasn’t saying Mr Hogan’s irons were longer, but as he progressed as an OEM, he did believe in longer (see Apex shaft specs circa approx 1968)

@NickRaffaele53 @MiracleSwing "his set up position was 'pert near straight up' as we say in Texas!" And? Hogan's clubs were a bit shorter and flatter than standard. They fit his build and swing. Why would they fit Christo's? Attached is an analysis by Rich Hunt based on clubs at the USGA Museum:

@MiracleSwing Not sure of current specs on irons, but go longer and flatter to achieve Mr Hogan’s right hip set with level turn … you must remember he was about 5’6” to 5’8” tall and his set up position was “pert near straight up” as we say in Texas!

@MiracleSwing In the playoff the wind was behind Hogan who hit the ball over the green with a 5-iron. Wind was from the right on Saturday when he hit the 2-iron or perhaps a 3-iron, the club reported by the Chicago Tribune's Charles Bartlett, which landed in front of the green and bounced on.

While visiting Merion, the archivist John, showed me this second photo which was taken only a couple feet away from the previous day’s divot! This secured the 1950 US Open.

Everyone has seen the Hy Peskin photo of Ben Hogan on the 18th hole at Merion in 1950. Most folks don’t realize that shot only enabled Hogan to get into a playoff with George Fazio. Even fewer know almost an identical photo was taken the following day! (Next post)

@MiracleSwing Fazio and Lloyd Mangrum. Fazio was in the gallery when Hogan hit the shot. Although there are many who choose to think the club was a 1-iron (including Capers at Merion) Fazio always believed it was a 2-iron, as did Hogan’s playing partner Cary Middlecoff and many others.

@jeffygolf @MiracleSwing I understand wrist hinge and how it has a reference point in physics; leverage, Newtons laws etc. I’m unable to find any reference point relating to lag and thought you might know given you wrote the word.

What would you rate Ben Hogan’s pitching technique on a scale of one to ten, if you didn’t know it was Hogan? 🤔
