After the shoot of #PursuitOfJade wrapped up, many family and friends sent me messages congratulating me. I said, no, everything’s just normal—just doing what I need to do. Before becoming an actor, I was a model. Back then, my agent told me that modeling might not be a long-term path and suggested I try acting. I landed a role, and from that point on, I decided to focus on being an actor. Over the years, I’ve played many supporting roles and villains. At first, I had to learn where the cameras were and how to adapt to life on set—just picking up basic experience. Later, I slowly learned how to build a character. In the beginning, I thought it was pretty easy, but then it got harder and harder. Because you have to make each character distinct—each one is different—and that’s the hardest part. If your performance style stays the same, the audience will get bored and feel like you only have one approach. Differentiating every character, plus innovating, is especially difficult. For actors, this profession is really about being chosen. Just learn from the experience, come back, improve yourself, stay in good shape, and always be ready for the next opportunity. That’s the only way. If I weren’t acting, I’d probably go back to modeling or get a regular job. I studied fine arts, so I could find a regular job—work a 9-to-5—or be a livestream host, because I really enjoy chatting with people. As for almost giving up but then not giving up—I’m especially grateful to my mom. When I had no money to live on, I called her and said, “Mom…” Her encouragement, both emotional and financial, kept me moving forward. That’s how I stuck with it. So here, I especially want to thank my mom. When I decided to become an actor, my parents had a serious talk with me. Back when I was studying fine arts, they asked me, “Is this your choice?” I said yes. They said, “You can’t give up easily.” And I agreed. I studied fine arts for 16 years. When I was about to become an actor, they asked me seriously again, and I’d thought it through carefully. I told them, and they fully agreed—they really support my work. Whether I’m an actor now or whatever I become in the future, I think my parents will always be proud of me. My mom is an especially strong woman—she doesn’t give up easily. That has influenced me the most. They respect my choices. My mom has had a bigger impact on me. My dad is more of an optimist, easygoing, so I inherited that optimistic outlook from him too—I don’t see the world too pessimistically. And that’s what the time tree told me.
