Our newest preprint shows funding levels for 🇨🇦 women’s health research at CIHR is still ~7% with ~60% of funds going to breast & gyne cancers or pregnancy research. Women’s health is more than 👙 medicine. Top GBD for women has low funding across 13 y. More after it finds a home

Womens Health Research Funding in Canada across 13 years suggests low funding levels with a narrow focus medrxiv.org/cgi/content/sh… #medRxiv

Ford govt REFUSES to declare Intimate Partner Violence an epidemic after telling us on April 10 they would. WOMEN members of the Ford govt should be additionally ashamed! WOMEN survivors and WOMEN working on the frontlines of IPV have made it clear. What more does Ford need?!
Kristyn Wong-Tam 🇨🇦@kristynwongtam

Peel Police confirmed domestic violence calls represent the highest number of dispatched calls last year. Peel Police responded to more an 16,000 incidents of family and intimate partner violence. That’s 44 domestic violence calls every day or almost 2 call per hour. In 2023, Peel Region Council declared IPV an epidemic. No recognition or support from the Ford government for help. #ONpoli

Medication responses can differ significantly between males & females. Across #Canada, less than 6% of federal funding across 11 years went to women’s health research. We need gender & sex equity/parity in research to deliver equitable healthcare. #TogetherAgainstMisinformation
