in terms of representation, im literally one of the few Muslim women in the state of Michigan in a sign language interpreting program. that pressure is heavy but like, who else is gonna do it?

a lot of us who live in the west (like myself) have so much autonomy to ourselves compared to people in the balad. if i truly felt like i was heavily oppressed i would've taken it off eons ago. but i love my hijab. it makes me memorable. +gives representation in places uncommon

i really REALLY hate the mindset that all/most hijabi women are forced to wear it and held against their families standards for hijab cus 😭 a lot of us ARENT. and yes i can acknowledge the girls who are forced, i think its unacceptable.

i feel like you guys say this without knowledge of how arab countries were prior to Islam 😭 they were so violently misogynistic they'd bury live female babies and there were no rulings on marriage so men would marry infants and orphans, islam literally brought the age up

and put a cap on how many woman a man can marry, and obligated to treat each one equally as well so.. part of the rulings is that the woman has to be mentally an adult / capable of self sufficiency to be able to marry and ofc with modern medicine making us live longer+
