the teaching of emotions within my 1/2 class has clearly paid off. before my lesson, i asked how everyone was feeling and i heard some amazing responses, from 'blue' to 'disheartened', all because of the rain! i love their use of words. #acuedu_p

a feel good moment within my prac classroom before the school holidays: one of the indigenous children told myself and my supervising teacher that she would rather stay in school because we made her want to be 'really smart'. was very touching to hear. #acuedu_p

the oxford wordlist is being used as a spelling helper in the 1/2 classroom im in, and it is interesting to see that even though the children know the words, they still dont know them on sight, even when sounding them out. developing is everything. #acuedu_p

i took my first planned lesson while on prac and it was a wonderful experience listening to the children open up over their fears of the school holidays, yet being able to inform me all the reasons why. they're all in touch with their emotions! #acuedu_p

Got the children to swap reading books with the person next to them yesterday for 10 minutes. Really opened their eyes to books that they wouldn’t pick up. Now have, amongst others, a boy who usually reads nothing but war books waiting for Goodnight Stories for Rebel Girls.
