Today was an incredible day. I got to share really cool science with awesome scientists and at the end of it all they decided to give me my PhD! Thank you to everyone who helped me get here! @janetsmith818, @theodora_nyc, and many more! Excited for my next adventure!!

@danieldposton This model truly is an experiment, but I think a worthwhile one. It might not be the solution, but I think movement towards change is important… proven true by how disruptive this announcement has been lol

@CoralReefFish @JeanneGarb I think it is important to note that minimum salary requirements are set by the institution/granting agency (at least for trainees). Individual labs certainly may choose to pay their trainees more then the minimum and, in some labs at Rockefeller, this is not uncommon.

@JeanneGarb Salaries of trainees, consultants and staff are set by institutions and granting agencies, not individual labs. Labs get audited to ensure proper use of funds, but not for equitability.

Are laboratories/PIs ever audited to ensure how they allocate research funds (particularly in paying trainees, consultants, and staff) is equitable and sensible?
