One recent afternoon in Curaçao, I ran into my friend's grandma, my dentist, and my yoga teacher. Now, a few weeks later, and I live in America again. Feeling it all. And smelling dryers drying laundry when I'm out in the world running into strangers everywhere.
I'm not going to close Circumference because of SPD. We'll figure this out somehow, but we have no institutional support and we don't want to be a non-profit. All we want is for people to have access to mind-blowing work in translation they are going to love. Is that too much?
I'm just so upset about SPD, and keep going back to the boxes of our beautiful new book I just spent a small fortune mailing to them . How are we going to keep poetry books alive at all? Not yet defeated because I love these books.
Pub day is my fave holiday. I think everyone should buy this book because it will solve all your problems (at least while you're reading it). circumferencebooks.com/book/treasurer…
On my walks with the dog this week: flamingos, a bunny, tiny butterflies, parrots, troupials but also a snake and a pile of living wasps on my path and the usual sketchy iguanas. #curacao#saltflats
