@larsnlaf @jenneraub Furthermore, the vaccines are equally protective against the 'delta' variant as they are the other variants, so in your hypothetical, the vaccinated staff of this business is as protected as they would be against any other variant. wsj.com/articles/vacci…

@larsnlaf @jenneraub meaning through both your chance of getting covid diminishes & your chance of getting seriously sick diminishes. The people really at risk are the unvaccinated, so I guess I think why not let them take their own risk since they are the ones who'll deal with the outcome?

@larsnlaf @jenneraub As a further question, when do businesses stop using vaccine verifications to permit the 'right' clientele in? What's the offramp/end goal? Or is it a forever thing?

@larsnlaf @jenneraub And furthermore, I'm not 'ashamed' at all for believing in honoring people's right to bodily autonomy & opposing a system of discrimination aimed at dividing the world into the vaccinated & unvaccinated ESPECIALLY bc this vaccine is effective regardless of how many people take it

@jenneraub The two thoughts are logically inconsistent. You can’t hold both beliefs at the same time.

@boredsfgiantsf1 @jenneraub It is possible to be both pro-vaccine AND critical of vaccine “verification systems” AND think covid is a serious disease AND think our response to it has been highly flawed. All of those thoughts are possible to hold simultaneously, if you’re capable of nuanced thinking.

@boredsfgiantsf1 @jenneraub But I’m curious to know why you would conclude I am an ‘anti-vaxx nutter’ when I have not posted a single thing against the covid vaccine or any vaccine. I have posted a great deal about the vaccine’s efficacy & talked about going to get it (I’m fully vaccinated).

@jenneraub The fear I guess is people won’t take the vaccine if they think it is ‘experimental’ or not a ‘normal’ vaccine. Nevermind that gene therapy is a cutting edge field of medicine and the better way to combat this is through education and discussion, not flagging and censoring posts.

@jenneraub I think the issue Twitter is taking is around the use of the word ‘experimental’ to describe them, because it might indicate they are new and not fully tested (which they aren’t — they are likely safe but have not gone through all the usual testing bc they are badly needed).

@larsnlaf @jenneraub And it’s fine to suggest unvaccinated people ‘segregate themselves’ but that needs to be a suggestion, not forced by business discrimination. This also goes into some of the practical reasons why that’s a bad idea. medpagetoday.com/opinion/vinay-…

@larsnlaf @jenneraub Actually in this case the premise is solid because the vaccine is so effective on its own that it lowers YOUR risks so you don’t need to worry (unlike other vaccines that need high uptake in order to be effective).
