Been trapped in this hotel room by pain/mobility issues, but we rented a wheelchair, and today @RobSpirko wheeled me around the block and even out to lunch. I felt like I'd shaken off Wyrmtongue's whispers.

@notthatswalker Yeah, we've seen this coming for a long while, several months, and I thought I was better prepared. I guess we can never really be "prepared." The vet was great, of course, and they are making a paw print keepsake for us.

Goodbye, sweet puffball. Kiki was not only the prettiest cat I ever had, she was also the sweetest. For the last years of her life, she looked piratical, with her one eye, but she didn't act very piratical. We said goodbye to her today, and it was way harder than I expected.

My sister teaches in a Hawaiian immersion school (all classes from math to science to reading are taught in Hawaiian). The US is currently trying to shut her school down & force them into the 'standard' public schools. One Principal said recently, 'Kids must only speak English'

Trying to learn Ōlelo Hawaiʻi is incredibly difficult even nowadays. You'll find that most of the common translation resources contain no record of the language and are unable to translate it. There are very few resources to even attempt to learn, and even fewer are accurate.
