A COMMITMENT A DAY KEEPS BAD TEAMWORK AWAY I don’t always come up with the best ideas. Because I’m a student first and a teacher second, I’m always learning, listening and growing and when I hear a great idea I share it. The other day my friend, colleague and JG Certified trainer Chad Busick said to me, "You know Jon since your new book is The 7 Commitments of a Great Team, you can implement a commitment a day for an entire week." What a brilliant idea! Simple is powerful. Clarity leads to focused action. Focusing on one commitment a day is something we can all do and when we put it into practice as a team, we will see measurable benefits, better teamwork and exponential growth. Monday: Begins with committing to the vision and mission. Discuss your team’s vision and mission and set the intention to commit to working towards them this week. Remind each other what you want to create and the mission you are on together. Tuesday: Focus on committing to staying positive through challenges. Even though you have a vision and mission, obstacles will present themselves during the week. Today is the day you tell each other we are going to overcome, persevere and find a way forward to achieve our vision and live our mission. Wednesday: Commit to giving your best. You may not be at 100% but as I wrote in the book, you can always give 100% of what you have. Giving your best on hump day will give you momentum for a strong finish to the week. Revisit the Giving Your Best Formula on page 53. Thursday: Commit to connecting with each other. A team that stays united is strong. A team that becomes divided is weak. Make an effort today to connect with your team members one on one and collectively. Don’t let busyness and stress and the craziness of the weak keep you from building bonds of trust that will make you stronger. Friday: Commit to each other. Focus on serving your team members. How can you serve each other? How can you help each other? How can you sacrifice for each other? While the goal is to do this and the other commitments every day, this is the day you will put an even greater intentional focus on. Saturday: Commit to getting better.Evaluate the week. What did you do well. What can you do better? What did you learn that will make you better? Reflect on your own performance, the performance of your team and prepare to encourage and also challenge your team the next week. Also identify any difficult conversations you may need to have with our team and prepare to have it. Sunday: Commit to valuing each other. As you prepare for a new week think about your team and see the value in each one of them. When you value your team you will want to put the other commitments into practice. If you don’t value your team you won’t want to commit to them. So there you have it! 7 Commitments! One a day that will keep bad teamwork away. Of course, you can mix up the order of the commitments however you want depending on your team and work schedule and which days you want to implement a specific commitment. Every leader and team is different and I want you to do what works best for you. Have a great week! Lead Positive, -Jon P.S. Get the free 7 Commitments Action Plan when you get the book. They will help you and your team go to the next level. Get it here: jongordon.com/book/7-commitm…

Man. Don’t know how to explain it other than shock. Words cannot express the pain of this letdown. The frustration is unfathomable. I’ve worked my whole life to get to this moment and this is how it ends? Makes no sense. Now that I’ve gotten surgery, I wish I could count the number of times people will tell me I’m going to “come back stronger”. What a cliche lol, this shit sucks. My foot feels like dead weight fam. But what’s hurting most I think is my mind. Feel like I’m rambling, but I know this is something I’ll look back on when I’m through this, as something I’m proud I fought through. It feels good to let this shit out without y’all seeing the kid ugly cry. At 25, I’ve already learned that God never gives us more than we can handle. I know I’ll come out on the other side of this a better man and a better player. And honestly, right now, torn Achilles and all, I don’t regret it. I’d do it again, and again after that, to fight for this city and my brothers. For the chance to do something special. Indy, I’m sorry. If any fan base doesn’t deserve this, it’s y’all. But together we are going to fight like hell to get back to this very spot, and get over this hurdle. I don’t doubt for a second that y’all have my back, and I hope you guys know that I have yours. I think Kobe said it best when in this same situation. “There are far greater issues/challenges in the world then a torn achilles. Stop feeling sorry for yourself, find the silver lining and get to work with the same belief, same drive and same conviction as ever.” And that’s exactly right. I will do everything in my power to get back right. My journey to get to where I am today wasn’t by happenstance, I’ve pushed myself every day to be great. And I will continue to do just that. The most important part of this all, is that I’m grateful. I’m grateful for every single experience that’s led me here. I’m grateful for all the love from the hoop world. I don’t “have to” go through this, I get to go through this. I’m grateful for the road that lies ahead. Watch how I come back from this. So, give me some time, I’ll dust myself off and get right back to being the best version of Tyrese Haliburton. -0 Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight."

Pat Summitt didn’t just build a dynasty, she built people. The Definite Dozen wasn’t just about basketball. It was a blueprint for life, leadership, and competing the right way. Every coach, every leader, every team could live by these 12. Simple. Powerful. Timeless.
