ICE grabbed a 17yo Target worker at his job, despite him saying he’s a US citizen. After confirming he was, they dumped him in a Walmart lot 8 min away. Bystanders found him sobbing, bleeding: “They slammed me on the ground.”

Dear and admired @SamuelLJackson, First of all, I apologise for the limitations of my English. I hope you appreciate the effort involved in expressing myself in a language that is not my native language. I have read on social media that you referred to Argentina as "one of the most racist countries in the world." I am far from thinking ill of you or viewing you as someone who promotes discord or hatred. I do not believe there was any ill intent or animosity behind your words. I believe you have been misinformed, and it is with a sincere desire to provide you with better information that I take the liberty of writing these few lines. The Preamble to the Argentine National Constitution states with absolute clarity: We, the representatives of the people of the Argentine Nation, assembled in General Constituent Congress by the will and election of the provinces that compose it, in fulfillment of pre-existing pacts, with the object of constituting the national union, securing justice, consolidating domestic peace, providing for the common defense, promoting the general welfare, and ensuring the benefits of liberty for ourselves, for our posterity, and for all men of the world who wish to inhabit Argentine soil: invoking the protection of God, source of all reason and justice: do ordain, decree, and establish this Constitution for the Argentine Nation. And the text of the Constitution—the country's supreme law—states (Article 14): All inhabitants of the Nation enjoy the following rights, in accordance with the laws regulating their exercise; namely: to work and engage in any lawful industry; to navigate and trade; to petition the authorities; to enter, remain in, travel through, and leave Argentine territory; to publish their ideas through the press without prior censorship; to use and dispose of their property; to associate for useful purposes; to profess their faith freely; to teach and learn. This nation was built upon the foundation of the Spanish conquest, with waves of immigration from Spain, Italy, England, Poland, Germany, and the Jewish community, and—more recently—from Bolivia, Peru, and Paraguay. In recent times, there has been a massive influx of Venezuelans, following earlier arrivals from Korea and China, and now from Senegal. There are also communities of Roma and Syrians, as well as people of many other races, skin colours, and national origins. We are, quite literally, a melting pot of races and customs that intermingle and are shared. I completed my primary and secondary education alongside classmates and friends from incredibly diverse backgrounds: children of Spaniards—like myself—Italians, English, and Irish; several from the Jewish community; a Laotian and a Korean; two girls whose parents were South African; and two very good Syrian-Lebanese friends. We never had disputes based on ethnicity, skin colour, religion, or race; we were simply classmates and, in some cases, friends. As in any society, we have people who are rude, ill-mannered, or even downright stupid. Are there no people like that in your country? To label the Argentine people "racist" is, at best, a sign of a genuine lack of information. As I mentioned earlier, I do not believe you harboured any ill intent. I hope I have contributed somewhat to your understanding of this beautiful country; should you ever wish to visit, you will be warmly welcomed. Best regards,
English
