Yesterday I met with University College Cork’s office and staff in Beijing, where I learned more about the 20 year partnership between the University and China. The UCC office in Beijing (and I’m also going to be meeting their office in Shanghai), are working hard here in China

🇨🇳🇮🇪 It was my pleasure to meet China’s Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hua Chunying last night in the Irish Embassy. She has been responsible for overseeing relations with Europe since 2025, so this was a great opportunity to discuss the EU - China relationship

Cork and Shanghai have very strong links based on trade, education and friendship. Last night, it was my pleasure to meet the Vice Mayor Zhang, before attending the wonderful National Day Recception. The markets and opportunities here are enormous for Ireland and Cork
