Professor Papaarangi Reid has a vision for the future: "A country where it is safe to be born an Indigenous child." A sentiment shared by the attendees at this weekend's Indigenous Hui. Thank you to them and to everyone who helped make the hui, a first for RACS, such a success.

I caught up with Mary today, who got off insulin in just 7 days! She had been taking it for 15 years. She’s now been off it for 5 years, and still going strong! A big thanks to Walgett Aboriginal Medical Service CEO Christine Corby, who supported my work when others didn’t!

@SummerMayFinlay Australia threshold is lower then the recommendation from WHO. But I haven’t been able to find any Aus research that specifically links GD and LBW 😩 I

@SummerMayFinlay Oh don’t be sorry at all :) I completely agree with you. I feel they only take into consideration the risks of a large baby in birthing and not the postnatal care that follows.

@SummerMayFinlay Absolutely, small babies require a lot of structure and additional milestones. Im a NICU nurse so small babies is my bread and butter luckily but I felt I never got to relax, I felt heighten & like I couldn’t just be a mum. I think they get to fixated on treatment not the outcome
