Gemini in Chrome is one of my go to AI tools now. Blog, documentation whatever is there just open and start asking questions. Pretty amazing. It helped me understand Gemini Interactions API today.

@enesakar It looks to me from your first screenshot that you clicked the "sparkle" icon in the top right of the Docs webpage (note how the sidebar appears below the "Share" icon etc.). Realize that the two "sparkles" are a bit confusing though.

The Google AI product (gemini) is not able to update the Google document inside the Google web browser (chrome). Am I missing something? It teaches me how to type in Google Docs. Oh thank you!!!

Many people for India got the access to Gemini in Chrome, why I am not getting access to it even after updating chrome. Gradual updates are frustrating, anyone else got the access to in India ?

@michaelyinplus What do you find easier to use about the sidebar (aside from prompt management, by which I assume you mean saved prompts)?

In ChatGPT Atlas, The AI sidebar is faster and easier to use. Prompt management is also way more convenient. I do not see this level of UX in Gemini of Chrome. Feels like a real productivity boost. #ChatGPTAtlas #AI #UX #Browser

Love this about ChatGPT Atlas. Open a new tab, start typing, and I’m instantly talking to ChatGPT. Zero friction. Chrome feels different. I have to move mouse to AI Mode first, and it adds a bit of latency. Small UX detail. Big difference. #ChatGPTAtlas #AI #UX #Chrome

@VishnusaiSaii @ai_for_success It is rolling out gradually and should hopefully reach you soon! Requires Windows, Mac, or Chromebook Plus and being signed-in on the latest version of Chrome.

Gemini in Chrome is way better than I anticipated. I think it might be the biggest move yet. It isn't talked about at all. Wonder why @joshwoodward

@sankar2704 @GeminiApp @googlechrome It should be available for any signed-in consumer profile. For enterprise profiles, the availability of the feature depends on the configuration the IT admins have in place.

Finally the Ask Gemini button is visible in Google Chrome Is there any restrictions in Chrome that prevents the additional profiles not get the 'Ask Gemini' button at the top ? @GeminiApp @googlechrome

@stephenrobles Thanks for flagging! This is a safety measure (i.e., always requiring user confirmation for a write/publish action regardless of the prompt), but we're looking into ways to give users more configurability of these measures.

In case you were wondering, on the agentic browser front Gemini in Chrome can't even click a button when it changes color. Claude in the same browser, same tab, has no problem doing it.

Chrome just killed Comet, ChatGPT Atlas and its forks Gemini in Chrome’s side panel is lowkey better than the web app: > reads pages natively > faster (local inference) > understands your tabs > connects to your workspace

@Miles_Brundage @laparisa @CharmaineD61138 Gotcha. I just confirmed that choosing to use Gemini in Chrome does not change your Keep Activity setting. Agree that the language could be clearer and I've passed that along to the team.

Hi Jesse - the way I understand the message is that if I clicked Yes, it would change my settings in Gemini Apps Activity. Are you saying that's not actually what it would do, or that I could have said yes, and then gone to that page to undo it? (+ if so, why not give an option to just do the demo but without opting in to data sharing?)

Hm so apparently the new Google Chrome Gemini integration *only* works if you do data sharing, even as an Ultra member.

Hi Miles! While Gemini in Chrome does require sending data to Google to generate useful responses, all data is strongly protected. Please note, Gemini in Chrome uses the same privacy policy that applies to Gemini Apps overall. If you're referring to the statement in the screenshot you shared about your activity improving Google AI, you can choose to turn off Gemini Apps Activity to opt out (see support.google.com/gemini/answer/…). It's also worth noting that web content data will not appear in your Gemini Apps Activity and is not available for human review unless you explicitly donate it when submitting feedback (see #chrome_data" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">support.google.com/gemini/answer/…). Hope this helps clarify things!

Yeah, if I understand correctly, the only options given were the two I showed - there was no way to do the pilot without giving data, which seems strange especially when I am a paying customer + IIUC that is why I was even being shown it. Happy to give feedback on a case by case basis like RN but I never accept full data sharing, so that means I can’t try this out which was sad bc it is urgently needed
