🏙️ YEG | NW Edm 🧱 Small Business Owner 📢 Let’s Bring Back Sensible Govt

LA Mayor Karen Bass (D) is now complaining about being "demonized" in viral AI ads made by Republican Mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt, calling them "violent" and "hateful."

Let’s be clear: public spaces are not for illegal drug use. Edmonton now accounts for 61% of Alberta’s opioid related deaths, and that is unacceptable. We are increasing police presence and enforcement to confront all drug related activity, including working hard to interrupt the supply before it hits our streets. We are committed to ensuring public spaces are safe. We are also committed to making sure people are connected to the social resources they need. Working together, we can ensure a Safer Edmonton for everyone.

Updates were shared yesterday with Council on a new user fee policy and on its investments. A Corporate User Fee Policy is being created to provide a single, consistent approach across all services. As user fees have not increased with inflation or the City’s costs, this policy aims to improve accountability in how we set user fees and improve cost recovery for a better balance between those who use a service and taxpayers as a whole. The policy will be presented in the fall. The City’s investments continue to perform well and helped fund important construction projects. Read the report online edmonton.ca/Budget

NEW COLUMN. It's official! Mayor Farkas reveals his new and not improved leftie self in a pathetic defence of Calgary's failed bike lane experiment. calgaryherald.com/opinion/column… #yyc #yyccc #ableg #abpoli #cdnpoil #cycling

Alberta’s premier would not rule out using her power to approve a separation vote in October, as independence leaders are now urging her to do. As Sean Amato reports, some believe Danielle Smith would risk losing her job if she shot that idea down. #ableg edmonton.citynews.ca/video/2026/05/…

Earlier this year, nearly 12,000 Alberta Public Service employees returned to in-person work. The evidence is clear: downtown recovery accelerates when workers are present. Daytime population drives foot traffic, retail sales, office absorption, and perceptions of safety, all of which strengthen Edmonton as a city and a place to live, work and raise a family. I am proud to stand alongside Edmonton's business community in this call to action. A coordinated effort between our two orders of government would mark a genuine turning point for Alberta's capital city. See the joint letter below: edmontonchamber.com/2026/05/11/pha…

Premier Smith asked about the effort and cost to hire up to 90,000 people to count referendum ballots this fall. She says she's not worried, saying paper ballot hand counts are the way to go.
