Heard the sad news about Brian today and thought about all the years I’ve been listening to him and admiring his genius. Rest in peace dear Brian.

A Texas woman was just released from jail after five months - for a miscarriage. While she was jailed, the county turned her fetal remains over to a crisis pregnancy center - which then named the fetus and gave it a public funeral. This is what fetal personhood looks like.

I think I say the same thing every time I work on a story, but it's hard to explain how much time and thought and detail goes into a feature story. Which makes it feel all the more special when it finally pubs. You'll go through all the feels reading this one, it's a real star.

Years after a series of suspicious deaths occurred at the very hospital where @Leigh_KC spent time as a baby, she decided to investigate what happened. Had this been a mass murder or a tragic coincidence?narratively.com/p/dozens-of-in…

Pub day always feels like a national holiday to me, the day when all the hours and hours (and hours) of work that went into something goes out into the world. Love this one by Seth Lorinczi, hope you do too.

I was also impacted by the @WSJ layoffs. I was laid off after mat leave for some extra salt in the wound. All the working moms out there know that this is a worst nightmare scenario. I’d love any help from former colleagues, friends, social media connection, etc.! 🙏
Joanna Stern@JoannaStern

Some of the best tech reporters + editors out there were laid off from @wsj yesterday. When I say these folks are not only incredibly knowledgeable but also kind and a joy to work with, I mean it. If you’re hiring, don’t miss the chance to snatch them up. I can help make connections. talkingbiznews.com/media-news/her…
