Sam Harris is right. A tiny % of the population has statistical skills or depth of historical understanding to claim authority on such subjects. Needless to say everybody can claim to have opinions and seek out support for them. But shallow egalitarianism is not the solution.

The monetization of youth sport has undone the very notion of what sport can offer our children. Participation IS the foundation of that offering.
