A doctor who is the first at the scene to restart your heart asking for £4/hr more isn't most people's idea of militant. We are asking for the 1000s of doctors locked out of training to be allowed to become consultants and GPs. If you want to blame anyone, blame @wesstreeting.

Doctors are still being paid less in real terms than we were before the pandemic. We’ve faced years of quiet pay erosion, and it was only when we took action that anything started to shift. @wesstreeting promised a journey to fair pay last year, but the latest pay award would take decades to undo our pay erosion. This dispute didn’t have to happen. The Government has had every opportunity to resolve it, but they’ve broken their promises and chosen delay over solutions. Strikes are a symptom, the real issue is a Government that won’t fix the problem.

"Study" compares PAs and medical students and concludes PA students = medical students knowledge. How about using the UKMLA instead of shitty progress tests and actually standardising the test taking. @PlymUni

Doctors in England are working in the NHS for £17/hr. @wesstreeting has proposed that some doctors are worth an extra 49p this year. Under-valuing the public sector seems to be a common theme for this government. If they keep proposing pay cuts, drs will be back out on strike.

I wanted to follow up to some comments: patients are my ONLY motivation here. I’m an NHS consultant. I am a medically qualified, fully-trained expert in one specialty, and can call a friend who is an expert in any another. My job and income are secure. (1/8)

@ellorakamineni See if you can find out the list in advance so you can get to know the patients and what procedure they need and why then make sure you’re at least vaguely familiar with the procedures so you can at least try and anticipate what the surgeon is going to need help with
