I said before the season that Gatewood was going to have a big year. It was even bigger than I expected. He’s a legitimate college prospect now & a high-end D2/low-end D1 prospect if he can expand his shooting game — which I expect him to do next year.

One of the top RBs in Newton County makes it official. He’ll now become teammates with Newton QB Deron Benson. As we’ve seen a handful of times the last few years, we’ll see Newton County players teaming up at the collegiate level.

FINAL (In overtime): Eastside 55, Pace 57 Eastside's historic season comes to an end in a heartbreaking fashion. Christian Gatewood finishes with a team-high 21p. Jevon Sullivan had 14p off of the bench. Brian Clark led the Knights with 22p. @CovNewsSports @KyleSandy355

Despite the loss, Eastside has now cemented themselves as contenders. Gatewood, Freeman & the Sullivans will be back next year. We should also see some call-ups from JV that will help fill out the losses of Josiah Johnson & Jordan Poole. They’ve got a bright future.
