Three years ago I took this selfie with my mom, it would be the last time we'd be together. 1 month later she was gone to a better place. It was a good thing, but I still feel it even now. I miss you mom. Tough day ahead.

I recently shared with @eshecker a brief story that I said I'd expound upon. So here it is. I'll RT from my @jfkcards account so the hobby can see it. I hope you'll read all of it! High-Flyers Club My 3rd grade teacher at Wildwood Elementary in Westland, Michigan was Mr. Nastoff. He was unlike any teacher I ever had. We went into his classroom the first few days and he had big words strung on strings about the room. I was always a big reader and speller, so I knew most of the words, but I remember I was having trouble with Democracy! He challenged me to figure it out. Anyways, that's another story. Each year Mr Nastoff would form a club with his students. He let them name the club and there was always a class motto to go along with the name. I don't remember any of the other names, but since High-Flyers was my idea, and we adopted it, it's always stuck with me. Our motto for the year was "Aim High, Fly Higher". All these years now and I can't remember how we came up with that, but it has stuck with me! For me it was always about setting goals and then finding ways to exceed them. I've adopted it both personally and professionally. A few years back a peer of mine working at a former financial institution in the area was taking part in the Making Strides for Breast Cancer fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. She set a modest goal of $1,000 for her effort and was doing her fundraising. I remember calling her out and saying with all these executives here you have such a low target, you certainly can do better! She raised her goal to $1,500. I told her that she needed a big, hairy, audacious goal! I said if she could raise $10,000 I would wear a pink wig to the next All Hands meeting. Later, the senior leader in our group suggested what I really meant was I would dye my hair pink. We raised the $10,000 and I even donated the final amount to get it over the top! I died my hair pink for the All hands meeting! See the attached picture! So, back to Eric and #RippinForTheCure, when he told me he was hoping to raise $1,000 on his kickoff weekend. I set a $3,000 target in my head. (I didn't tell him this), but I had plans to Aim High and Fly Higher! By now you know we met that goal. In whatever you do, I encourage you to "Aim High, Fly Higher!" Pursue your goals, make them big and audacious and then knock them out of the park! Thanks for reading! It's the day of "The Game". I've been a season ticket holder for the last 25 years and have been through the best and worst of this matchup at home. We are only 7-17 in that stretch. But the last four years has been great going on a 4-game winning streak. Last year, we weren't even supposed to be in the game, but on the road we pulled out the win. With a single exception I've been at the games at the Big House. I've even hosted some Buckeye friends. I've never been to a game in Columbus, because my friends refused to take me saying that we wouldn't enjoy it (while half-heartedly acknowledging that they were treated well at the Big House). We are underdogs again today. The 12th Ranked Wolverines vs the 1st Ranked Buckeyes. The Buckeyes are 9 point favorites. The underdog role is great. Like last year, we aren't expected to win, all the pressure is on the Buckeyes. But as a Michigan fan, I expect no less than a win. Freshman quarterback, RB injuries, and a stellar opponent. No moral victories like covering the spread. Let's get out there and win! Let's take the streak to 5! Let's have a game worth remembering. Let's keep it clean and leave everything on the field.
