Honored, last week, to be presented one of 18 "limited edition" Carne Golf Links flags by Erris Tourism chairman Gerry Maguire. Belmullet has been a second home since my 2005 visit to research an SI feature called "Ancestral Links." (Later a book.) Many thanks! @TourismIreland

@CarneGolfLinks I just spent the whole fabulous week at Carne, the weekend pro-am being the only days I missed. The weather was fabulous, the fairways unusually brown and fast, and the seafood chowder to die for. It's my second home! #Love Ireland @Tourism Ireland

Today's Irish PGA scores show how tough real links courses can be in bad weather. Higgins' final-round 73 at Carne was the equivalent of a fair-weather 66.
