My professor in college creative writing course said, "If you love to read, do not take this course. Drop out."
Learning to write stories does affect how you read after that. It is not as much fun. I study the work, trying to see if I can make it better. Or see where the author went wrong. Rats!

Now that I'm a writer, I read books differently. I appreciate the endless work, the time, the courage it took the author to pour their heart onto those pages. I hold in my hands a real part of them. Someone's dream that came true. It truly feels magical.
