Who would of thought the hardest part of a dissertation is figuring out how to keep acknowledgements short and sweet. Especially when SO MANY people played a major role in where I am today.

Congratulations to *Dr.* Jose Hernandez (@jgh9094) who just did an amazing job with his PhD defense. We get to keep him for a couple more months as he finished up a couple of manuscripts, and then he's off to @moorejh's lab as a postdoctoral researcher. Nicely done Jose!

I attended many of the graduate workshops and gained knowledge on what to expect as faculty, I presented some research I have been working on as I now wrap up my time in grad school, and I connected with other graduate students and gave them feedback on different materials. (2/n)

I had the amazing opportunity to attend the 2022 Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) National Convention this past week with the Michigan State University SHPE chapter, and it truly was a breath of fresh air to see so many people who looked like me. (1/n)

I can finally switch my title from Ph.D Student to Ph.D Candidate. All of that to say.. I PASSED MY COMPREHENSIVE EXAM 🎉🎉🎉

The exploration diagnostic is one of four diagnostics, where the complete set is discussed in a preprint that we hope to submit soon. The set of diagnostics measures the exploitation and exploration abilities of different selection schemes. preprint: arxiv.org/pdf/2204.13839…
