When 3.5% of a population actively participates in sustained, peaceful protest, it can topple authoritarian regimes — like the one currently in the Oval Office.
We need 12 million people to show up on March 28 to get to 3.5%. Will you be one of them?

Our upcoming Spring Practice Period is almost upon us! Entitled “The Ten Ox-herding Pictures – Our Journey of Awakening”, this in person program will take up the classic study of the Ten Ox-herding pictures, a series of paintings and teachings dating back to the twelfth century. These foundational Zen teachings are formulated as visual parables for the stages of spiritual training and enlightenment – from a practitioner’s initial seeking to their full integration in the world. The metaphor spans finding, taming, and eventually transcending the ox, which represents the wild mind or true nature. Attributed to the 12th-century Zen Master Kakuan Shien, they illustrate the journey of taming the self to realize Buddha-nature, making them central to Zen understanding.
Lead by Sensei Monshin Nannette Overly, Sensei Jose Shinzan Palma, Sensei Ryokan Cynthia Kear, and Chris Senko Perez

NEW: Days after Pete Hegseth said the U.S. war in Iran is protected by God, Pope Leo XIV denounced those who “involve the name of God in choices of death.”

A piece I wrote yesterday when not feeling well. I think it applies to much of what is happening now. We are indeed up a tree!

Buddhist precepts are not abstract ideals but guides for how we meet the world — shaping how we speak, act, and respond to suffering. Again and again, they return us to the heart of practice: caring for one another and for this fragile world with clarity, courage, and compassion.
