@jharmo They did the maths and realized the revenue possible from there cos it’s def not about the access to education and for a group that has so weaponized poverty and lack as a means to dominance.

About 1.96 million students registered for WAEC in 2026, while about 1.37 million registered for NECO in 2025. Combined, that's roughly 3.33 million candidates sitting these examinations every year. If the proposed N50,00 examination fee per candidate takes effect, Nigerian families could collectively pay approximately: • WAEC: N98 billion (1.96 million × N50,000) • NECO: N68.5 billion (1.37 million × N50,000) Total: About N166.5 billion every year in examination fees alone. This above reflects a government that appears more focused on generating revenue than on expanding access to affordable and quality education for ordinary Nigerians. At a time when millions of families are struggling with the rising cost of living, increasing the financial burden of basic secondary school examinations risks putting education further out of reach for many. The Tinubu @officialABAT regime doesn't give a fuck about access to education to ordinary Nigerians but more about generating more revenue to be stolen by his cronies and creating a society of miscreants and thugs.

FG Increases WAEC, NECO Examination Fee From N27,500 to N50,000 for 2027 The Federal Government has approved a new examination fee of N50,000 for candidates sitting the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) and National Examinations Council (NECO) Senior School Certificate Examinations (SSCE), with the new rate taking effect from 2027. The approval was contained in a June 18 statement signed by Adeniji Ibrahim, Director of Senior Secondary Education at the Federal Ministry of Education. It followed a request by WAEC for an upward review of the SSCE registration fee. The new fee represents an 82% increase from the current N27,500 charged per candidate. According to Ibrahim, the decision was reached after a March 31, 2026 meeting between the Minister of Education and examination bodies, where the need to review examination fees was discussed. He said the minister also directed both WAEC and NECO to adopt a uniform examination fee. “You may recall that at a meeting of examination bodies held with the honourable minister of education on 31 March, 2026, where the need for upward review of examination fees was discussed, the honourable minister directed that WAEC and NECO should adopt a uniform fee for the conduct of WAEC and NECO SSCE,” the statement read. It added, “Consequently, I am directed to convey the honourable minister of education’s approval of the sum of fifty thousand naira (N50,000.00) only, as the new examination fee per candidate, with effect from NECO SSCE (Internal), 2027.” The ministry said the directive should be communicated to all relevant stakeholders.

A #Sowore2027 administration will never ask your children or wards to pay to sit for public examinations. Education will be free because education is not a privilege; it is the bedrock of national progress and the foundation of a prosperous society. No Nigerian child should be denied an education because of poverty or the inability to pay examination fees. Stop enabling enemies of progress. #Sowore2027 #TinubuMustGo #TakeItBack

LET'S USE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO SHOW YOU, AT A GLANCE, WHAT OUR EDUCATION POLICY WILL LOOK LIKE AFTER 2027. No government under a #Sowore2027 administration will ever ask your child to pay WAEC, NECO, or any other public examination fee. Education will be free because knowledge is a right, not a privilege. Our revolutionary education policy guarantees free, high-quality education from early childhood through university, backed by modern classrooms, virtual learning, well-paid teachers, student grants, and equal opportunities for every Nigerian child. This is not a promise of politics. It is a revolutionary commitment to build a nation where no child's future is determined by poverty. Read it. Share it. Debate it. Join the movement to make it a reality. #Sowore2027 #TakeItBack #EducationForAll #RevolutionNow
