@Wolf_580 @coolaise21 Yeah I'm in the same boat (heh) honestly. I'm not gonna ASK to have water combat back, but it was... Just combat to me. In water. While an extra axis was rough sometimes, it's not been significantly worse imho. But it opened up SO many cool and beautiful area setpieces

@coolaise21 I've had this struggle as a 3rd Gen Hunter. I joined with 3 Tri/3 Ultimate, and I thought underwater combat was normal. I got really good at it too. Not just out of necessity, but because I genuinely enjoyed it. So it gets exhausting listening to the haters.

It could just be me, but whenever someone makes a radically disapproving opinion on a MH title, it makes me dislike the MH game they're praising for some reason
This thought process i have was migraine-inducing, best to mute/block those people

There is no such thing as a truly bad Monster Hunter game. No matter how much you may personally dislike parts of it - for whatever valid/silly reasons or real/imagined flaws, there is a lot of people who love that game; in spite of, or even because of what you dislike about it.

@Nasafitra Honestly people tend to forget how genuinely bad some fights used to be, monsters would continually miss if you moved like, an inch during their wind up, and then they would idle for 30 seconds eating the air and letting you get hits in

Yep 100% agree modern MH fights are clearly more well thought out overall.
Best example is World and how it tries to teach the player more and more mechanics with each fight as you progress.
(it was stated by the devs but I cannot find the interview so just trust me on this :P)

Awhile ago, reviewing the fights' structure of MH from past to present revealed to me that modern fights are designed with guidance so players would naturally do what should already been doing previous games. i.e modern fights have more planned experiences than "sand-box" feels

@RoseKaedae it really is insane, i said wilds was my favorite monster hunter game MECHANICALLY and got absolutely attacked for saying it, some monster hunter fans cant comprehend that someone can actually enjoy something while still acknowledging its flaws

@RoseKaedae The only thing about Wilds I didn't enjoy at all was the story execution. All those slow-walk dialogue dump scenes were a slog. Everything else about it was solid tho and its version of dual blade combat is definitely the best in the series to date.

It is insane how consistently whenever anyone tries to say anything positive about some of the recent MH games (especially Wilds) and how they enjoy them there is ALWAYS people that are like
"actually no what you like is bad and you are wrong for liking it"

@RoseKaedae Just because I think Rise is a bad game does not diminish others love for it.
Neither does it diminish my right to dunk on it.
As long as people are respectful in dissenting opinions we can all coexist. When people start throwing immature hissy fits is where the issue lies.

@bruhnah76 @Ramika30898 Wilds has always seemed like the original vision for me. The world, the ecology details, the flow of the seasons and the fact that most things intertwine and influence each other all seem like details that they dreamt of implementing

@Ramika30898 That’s so true. After watching the documentary by Oceaniz about the making of MH I can see that a lot of Wilds is what they originally wanted to do with MH but never had the tech/resources to do so. A lot of the bad is just them pivoting too hard to be as accessible as possible -

With Focus Mode in Wilds, we technically returned back to use right Analog stick to attack

But I'm also just VERY biased because it's my fave lmao. BASE rise alone tho, i can't defend. It's not trash, but absolutely weakest.

@jhydra09 @RoseKaedae Sunbreak is a huge improvement, probably the biggest glowup of any G/Master rank expansion. But I still think even with Sunbreak its the weakest, tho that's mostly just down to how stiff the competition is. It's the least strong of a very strong bunch

@RoseKaedae MH rise is easily the weakest of the series (other than MH1)
But it still has fun and fluid combat, loads of content, nice visuals, great music, mostly fantastic monster designs, and immaculate vibes. When the weakest link is still a solid 7/10 that's a huge flex
