🧵We would never expect a child to hurry up and walk earlier, or expect their teeth to fall out earlier or be able to crawl or stand earlier or eat solid food earlier so for goodness sake why are there so many unrealistic expectations linked to academic knowledge and content?

This is a warning to us educators to not join THAT CHOIR! The choir that tells us we're doing the best we can, we're amazing, we're doing God's work when our students ARE STRUGGLING. We've worked too hard to be pitied. #RuthlessEquity

Feedback is perhaps the biggest thing missing from most classrooms. REAL feedback. Not "That's right. This is wrong. Good work. Try this." Feedback tied to what success looks like & what the end goal is for learning. Where are you? Where do you want to go? What's next?
