Eagles vs Bears: 5 Key Matchups
Sydney Brown vs. Ben Johnson
Brown is set to make his first start of the season with Andrew Mukuba sidelined. The Bears offensive is not great but it is a tough matchup for Brown specifically, who played 150 MPH and is always looking to land a big hit. That’s a concern going up against an offense that has plenty of eye candy and tries to trick safeties. Brown will need to be disciplined against a creative Chicago offense.
Jaylx Hunt vs. Theo Benedt:
The best matchup for the Eagles DLine vs. the Bears OLine is Hunt vs. Benedt. Hunt has been playing at a borderline elite level this season and is currently 22nd in the NFL with 38 pressures. Benedt is a UDFA that is only playing because their last LT got benched. Hunt needs to win this matchup and get Caleb Williams down when he gets there.
Fred Johnson vs. Montez Sweat
The Bears have one good player on the defensive line and that is EDGE Montez Sweat, who lines up almost exclusively across from the LT. With Lane Johnson sidelined that means Sweat will be going up against new starter Fred Johnson. The Eagles have one player to really worry about on the DLine. Johnson can’t let Sweat impact this game.
Quinyon Mitchell vs. Romeo Odunze
The Bears are not a great passing team and their WRs are mostly average but the best one is Romeo Odunze. Odunze is leading the Bears in targets, catches, yards, YPC and touchdowns. Having Mitchell stick Odunze seems like an obvious choice. It is a matchup Mitchell is very capable of winning.
Jordan Davis vs. Bears iOL:
The Bears move the ball on offense on the ground. They are 2nd in rushing attempts heading into Week 13 and 7th in yards per carry on the ground. they run it behind an impressive interior offensive line. Davis was drafted to be one of the best run-stopping DTs in the NFL. He needs to dominate and help stop the Bears rushing at
