"But AI is similar to enriched uranium, right?" Right? Right? Next time you’re debating AI with CEO of the most consequential AI companies in the world, you can just define AI however you like then come to some conclusions based on your own definition. This kind of logic is incredibly annoying because the other side doesn’t even know where to start correcting you.
Tony Jacob | FindaClip.com@tonjkb

Jensen calls Dwarkesh's AI comparison to North Korean nukes lunacy Calls the enriched uranium comparison lousy "Dario had this quote where he said, it's like Boeing bragging that we're selling North Korea nukes, but the missile casings are made by Boeing. And that's somehow enabling the U.S. technology stack. Like fundamentally, you're giving them this capability." "Comparing AI to anything that you just mentioned is lunacy." "But AI is similar to enriched uranium, right? And then it can have positive uses. It can have negative uses. We still don't want to send enriched uranium to other countries." "Who's sending enriched uranium?" "The analogy is enriched uranium." "Because it's a lousy analogy. It's an illogical analogy." "But if that compute can run a model that can do zero-day exploits against all American software, how is that not a weapon?" "First of all, the way to solve that problem is to have dialogues with the researchers, the dialogues with China, and dialogues with other countries to make sure that people don't use technology in that way. That's a dialogue that has to happen. Okay. Number one. Number two, we also need to make sure the United States is ahead. Everything that Vera Rubin, Blackwell is available in the United States in abundance. Mounds of it, obviously, our results would show it. Abundance, tons of it, tons of it. The amount of computing we have is great. We have amazing AI researchers here. It's great. We ought to stay ahead. However, we also have to recognize that AI is not just a model, that AI is a five-layer cake, that AI industry matters across every single layer. And we want United States to win at every single layer, including the chip layer. And conceding the entire market is not going to allow United States to win the technology race long-term in the chip layer, in the computing stack. That is just a fact."

BNN Eric Nuttall: We are experiencing covid inverted with Oil. This is the largest supply loss in history. $177 Oil is looking likely. We have a planned trip to Italy this summer but 20-25% of flights will be cancelled due to loss of jet fuel. Energy investors need to avoid the day to day. 2027 strip is $70 and we think $80 is realistic. 80-90% upside in Canadian Oil names if we see $80 Oil for 2027. The world needs more Canadian Energy.

@BradWestPoCo Dismissing downgrades as noise is easy when it’s not your balance sheet…harder when you realize that attitude is why the balance sheet keeps deteriorating. whatever happened to being a fiduciary?

I had a convo today (with a municipal councillor, no less) where BC’s 5th consecutive credit downgrade was brushed off as a nothing burger, just the opinion of financial firms. That misses the point, because this isn’t about who’s saying it. It’s about what it means. But it did get me thinking that we need to be clear about the actual impact for real people. In simple terms: lenders see our province as higher risk, so we pay more interest to borrow. And when interest costs go up, more of your tax dollars go to servicing debt… and less goes to the things people actually rely on: healthcare, schools, infrastructure, childcare, public safety, etc Every dollar spent on interest is a dollar not spent on you. That’s not politics…that’s called math. And my point to my colleague was simple: if you care about strong public services, and especially if you want to see more of them as I do, this should matter to you most.

Risk/reward seems attractive: Token consumption accelerating, GPU per hour rental prices going vertical and Tech valuations are broadly below their Covid and Deepseek lows. Some high quality secular growth names are at mid single digit multiples on real 27/28 numbers.

The reason I consistently post my mental gymnastics around this admin instead of just going back to what actually pays the bills (tech investing) and acceding that the admin is retarded is that I deeply believe if there is a single individual in a group that is high-IQ and opinionated (Bessent) it doesn’t matter how bombastic Trump is every high-level policy meeting will have Bessent piping up on why an idea is retarded. That effectively sets a floor on how retarded the strategy can be. Dumb people can still recognize when someone is smarter than them. If Bessent left the admin I’d just mea culpa and give up decoupling. Until then I look at this as similar to when there is a midwit boomer PM and a savant analyst. The PM will still make a lot of mistakes but the thesis behind each position will be highly complex because simple dumb ideas don’t survive first contact with someone high IQ.

🚨 | BREAKING : ARNE SLOT 🇳🇱 Arne Slot is expected to CONTINUE as the Liverpool FC head coach for the remainder of the season, as things stand! 🇳🇱🚨🔴#LFC Liverpool FC hierarchy are NOT convinced by the idea of SACKING Arne Slot, and hiring an interim head coach until the end of the season right now. ❌️🇳🇱 Sacking a Premier League winning coach and hiring an interim, while the club are still competing in the UCL QF against Paris Saint-Germain is NOT considered by the club's hierarchy. ❌️🤝🏻 The club’s hierarchy want to give Arne Slot time to change the situation, as they still consider Arne Slot as the best man for Liverpool in the long-term. 🔑🔴 Liverpool FC will make a decision on Arne Slot’s position as the club’s head coach after the end of the season, as things stand. ❌️🇳🇱

"Elon is very mysterious in a way that somehow nobody seems to notice. One of his slogans is, Ad Astra, to the stars, but you can't get to the stars using SpaceX because it's a chemical rocket company. So what the heck? He's not investing in physics, he was going to go into a physics grad school and he has a physics BA, so there's something very very strange about Elon, which is that he's focused on getting to the stars, he doesn't seem to have any interest in physicists, and he has a chemical rocket company. What's going on? His real space company, I think, is not SpaceX, it's xAI, it's Grok. Look at the logo for Grok, I think it's like a black hole profile. Look at its slogan, to understand the universe. I think he's given up on the corruption of science. He keeps talking about the fact that he doesn't like the term researcher, he believes only in engineers. He's constantly really running down scientists. I don't think he doesn't believe in scientists, I think he thinks that science has gotten corrupted and he doesn't want to deal with it. I think what he's doing is he's building Grok to do science in a time when humans are too corrupt to be truthful and real." 😮👀
