I'm thinking about student motivation, and it occurs to me that a huge part of my motivation in undergrad (e90s) was the desire to be taken seriously by my profs, as an intellectual - something that maybe doesn't really exist in the world my students know?

I walked out of the classroom at 2:30 this afternoon, and it will be 17 months before I walk back in.
There were times this year that I thought I had taken on more than I could manage, but I got through it. Time to re-charge & start new projects (after grading's done).

For an administration that purports to be concerned about its brand @Carleton_U has lost the plot. The longer this strike involving underpaid/underappreciated TAs/CIs/RAs lasts, the more long term reputational damage will be done to the institution & the school will further alienate its most valuable assets, students & instructors.

CUASA just sent a note to all of its members asking them to respect @cupe4600’s collective agreement and not ask TAs to submit grades early in the event of a strike. We support 4600 members and their right to strike if @Carleton_U won’t offer them a fair deal!

We've received many messages from TAs that they're being pressured to rush in grades to undermine the effect of a strike. Remember, you must be given a minimum of 5 working days from the date you received instructions AND material to correct, as per our collective agreement.
