I’m a hugger. Most of our students, not so much. Usually it goes like, “I’m so proud of you, I wanna squeeze you SO bad!” They laugh, roll their eyes, and we move on. Today… I was given a modified “hug.” 🥹 Best job ever.

There is a big difference between fighting for what’s right and fighting to be right. One serves a cause, one serves an ego.

Today I sat w/ a student in my office while she cried, worrying about a family member recently hospitalized. Then I watched her crush it at her jazz band concert tonight. Idk what level that is on a state assessment but I do know that kind of resilience matters, too.

HASCD kicked off 2024 with our PD conference on Jan 8 with Jimmy Casas and Joy Kelly. Over 270 educators from across the state joined to learn more about how to #recalibrate the culture and care. Mahalo @casas_jimmy and @joykelly05 for an awesome day! - @jjpball #culturize
