Fast followers, as I say, can just be made impossible to use. It's not even far-fetched: imagine if there's a Chinese Mythos, the USG simply says it might insert undetectable backdoors into all traces, and all infra that utilizes it is quarantined from American systems. This makes virtually everyone unwilling to use it, and the US frontier continues to sell second-tier tokens.

Having recently traded China A shares myself, my impression was that the market is far too easily moved, and even manipulated, by absurd rumors. At the time, I held a leading Chinese CCL stock. One day, a rumor circulated that Chinese securities regulators were investigating a fund for allegedly manipulating CCL related stocks. As a result, a stock that had been up nearly 7% intraday quickly gave back all its gains and fell back to around flat. But after local Chinese media looked into the matter, the rumor was found to be false. A shares are far too vulnerable to rumors. I no longer trade China A shares.

dario could've just denied any connection to the minab school children bombing, and left it at that but instead, dario had to proactively put foot-in-mouth to say that bombing an elementary school doesn't actually violate anthropic's "red lines", and that they're only worried about things 100 times worse than the death of 120 children on one hand, it is good that dario has some kind of rational framework for weighing human lives as a statistic to optimize for/against on the other hand, it is completely tone-deaf
