Politicians in Canada are Combatting Hate with Bill C-9 which aims to attack hate speech and hate crimes by creating criminal offenses for intimidation at community events, for displaying posters with hate symbols and inciting hate-motivated crimes. It also redefines "hatred" in the Criminal Code and streamlines the process for laying charges by removing the requirement for the Attorney General's consent. A separate proposed bill (Bill C-63) includes measures to regulate online harmful content and amends the Canadian Human Rights Act to address online hate speech.  The X platform is already being limited.
