New names made official on campus, the name who made a history #unsw

Many thanks to Prof Jon Lawrence of AAO-MQ for his seminar on astronomical fibre optic multi-object spectroscopy. He nicely described the science case for the many recent astronomy surveys and summarized the techniques.

We are thrilled to welcome four outstanding STEM leaders to the @ScienceAU Board – clinical researcher & #SuperstarofSTEM @DrAnitaGoh, @PawseyCentre CEO @markstickells, Quandamooka mathematician & Chair of @atsimaAU @drchris_maths, & @AustAmFulbright future scholar Diana Zhang.

Honoured to serve on the Judging Panel for @Macquarie_Uni #ECR Showcase, w. Prof Michael Gillings, Dr Ross McLennan & Angie Kelly. All outstanding presentations, showing that MQ’s ECR landscape is not only dynamic, innovative & impactful, but collegial, convivial & connected too!

And.... another NSF proposal rejected. Apparently (in part), my outreach didn't hit the bar. Running an online conference (for free, on the topic of the grant), mentoring a dozen or so UG & HS students, & disseminating the research protocols on YT isn't sufficient.

I am very happy to present our research at the Early Career Researcher Showcase 2021 at @Macquarie_Uni, also look forward to hearing other ECRs from different disciplines. @mqphotonics event.mq.edu.au/ecr-showcase-2… @Macquarie_Uni

Thanks to Prof Renate Egan, an alumna of Macquarie, for this week's seminar. She spoke on her career and personal story of innovation and entrepreneurship within the photovoltaic sector, showing the great impact it has had to date. And the promise of more to come in the future!
