It’s vile to scapegoat an already marginalized community for Trump’s win, much less amid an ongoing genocide and future policy that is sure to further target, surveil, and restrict their movement. Plus a veiled attempt to minimize the true breadth of the anti-genocide movement.

I think the answer btw is to not finger point and scapegoat Latinos, which only emboldens Trump. The solution is to build inroads among our communities, learn form each other, actually confront racism, which again, non-white people do buy into. This is much harder than tweeting.

I’m not saying economic anxiety played no part, I think inflation was ultimately the most important decider of this election. But social media has conditioned us to only think in absolute terms when in reality things are more complicated and many things can be true at once.

Throughout US history minority groups of immigrants have adopted white supremacist ideas in pursuit of assimilation and becoming perceived as more American. This idea that racism played no part in Trump’s campaign, which explicitly ran on racism, is not true and ahistorical.

Lot of words here and not one of those words is "Latinos." Impossible to take these "it's white supremacy not economic anxiety!" arguments seriously when the people making them persistently refuse to engage with the fact that Trump significantly increased his minority support.

I'm not seeing nearly enough emphasis on how Biden/Harris' lockstep support of genocide impacted all this.
I distinctly remember Obama on the campaign trail gloss over the anti-war movement and seek to deduce it to only to Arab Americans and like it was some fringe constituency.

The gap between people’s perceptions of the candidates’ visions and the reality of their polices *IS* largely a messaging problem. I’m not saying messaging alone decided this election, but wow Dem strategists sure seem to be in denial and taking all the wrong lessons from Tuesday

Yes, the campaign was flawless, never mind they failed to address their top liabilities by not distancing Harris from Biden nor having a coherent answer to inflation, and sure they spit in the face of their own base, but yes 2-3 more celeb endorsements would have sealed it
