Outright. Without equal. On a level of his own. Bruno Miguel Borges Fernandes.

Only three players have ever registered 21 assists in Europe’s top five leagues since records began: Lionel Messi 🎯 Thomas Müller 🎯 Bruno Fernandes 🎯

@footballontnt Was the record for Messi and Muller manufactured like Bruno?? His requires an asterisk, handball goal and now own goal given to him incorrectly.

@talkSPORT You do wonder if the PL create these scenarios to generate headlines and then don’t have the balls to correct. That’s two goals Bruno has been accredited with, handball last week and a clear own goal this week.

Bruno Fernandes won't be stripped of Premier League assist record despite viral new footage #Echobox=1779716024" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">talksport.com/football/42833…

@SkySportsPL Needs an asterisk against his name. You can take at least two goals off that total, handball last week and own goal yesterday...

@Hunccho His record should have an asterisk against it, handball goal that shouldn't have been given, and now an own goal... 🤣

@mufcjbb Neither of those conditions is true... It wasn't on target, it hit the woodwork and came back off the crossbar. It then hit the keeper's hand and went out, which is not the same...

Are people still going to try and say that Bruno shouldn’t have this assist when these are the literal premier league rules?

@JakeAGriff I still never understand why the crossbar and sides are considered off target if it doesn’t go in! that is the target you are aiming at and you’ve hit it! It just irks me when it comes to betting.. that should be considered a shot on target!

@JakeAGriff No, hitting the crossbar or goalpost is not considered a shot on target by Opta unless the ball subsequently goes into the net and is awarded as a goal.

🗣️ Patrice Evra: “Jamie Carragher saying Bruno Fernandes doesn’t deserve Premier League Player of the Season because Manchester United were knocked out of other competitions early and didn’t play Champions League football? Come on, this makes no sense. We’re talking about the Premier League, not Europe, not the FA Cup, not the Carabao Cup. Judge him on what he has done in the league — and Bruno has delivered week in, week out. Sometimes these pundits speak with too much sentiment instead of football logic. Then when people react, they say they’re being attacked. No — people are simply calling out the truth. If you don’t like Bruno Fernandes or you’re disappointed he won it, just say it. That would even sound more honest than bringing up competitions that have nothing to do with a Premier League award. What exactly does being knocked out of Europe or domestic cups have to do with Premier League Player of the Season? Too much negativity around Manchester United all the time. Football should be judged fairly, not emotionally.”

@TheTotallyShow @oilysailor Depending on Liverpool and Villa result Bournemouth could still get champions league, but this is a non story, how many times have Bournemouth scored 5?

@UtdMaI @CliveWismayer Same rules for everyone, winning the title and relegation. Head to Head only comes into play if they have the same goal difference, which, unless West Ham turn around a 12-goal deficit, is irrelevant.

@CliveWismayer Ohh, but what criteria do they actually use to rely on GD? Feels like such a thin line to decide who stays up and who goes down, especially when the H2H is even.

Can someone explain this? If Spurs draw tomorrow and West Ham win, they’ll finish on the same points. Since both won one H2H game each, who stays in the Premier League then?

@LiamPaulCanning I'm not an Arsenal fan, but this is a load of rubbish. Bruno has been playing once a week, stat padding under no pressure, whilst Rice has driven his team to the title, it's not even close. These awards are always meaningless.

I hope Arsenal fans can now recognise and accept that Bruno Fernandes has been, by far, the best player in the Premier League. Not even close.

Firstly, how insulting to your own team to suggest Declan Rice has driven you to a title when it took a team of Raya, Saliba, Gabriel and more. Secondly, despite not liking you, I didn’t take you as being unintelligent. Yet it seems to escape you that the award is PLAYER of the season. To be clear, PLAYER is a singular word, not plural. FYI, the reason it is called PLAYER of the season is because it is an INDIVIDUAL award based on an INDIVIDUALS contributions. It is not a pre-requisite that the team win anything because it is not a TEAM award and it takes a TEAM to win trophies. I won’t repeat Bruno Fernandes’s accomplishments this season, or his impact, because I would be here a while (And significantly longer than for Rice). I also suspect that you are aware but in denial. Congratulations Bruno, on your individual award for your individual contributions to football and for being the best player this season!
Piers Morgan@piersmorgan

WHAT IS GOING ON? How can a serial loser this season beat a man who has driven Arsenal to our first League title in 22 years? This is complete madness.

@LydiaRose0x @premierleague Ha ha, another Utd fan living in the past... There was zero pressure on him this season. Finished 14th last season, no Europe, out of both cups in the first round, the best they could achieve was top 5, and they did that without any trouble.

@mbal88718 @UtdTony1 Yeah, one player has been coasting playing for top 5, the other has been fighting and winning the title. I'm not even an Arsenal fan, but there is no way Bruno is a better player, or had a better season. Just shows how meaningless these awards are.

@jmoors @UtdTony1 It's the premier league award. Bruno played the same number of games (38) as Rice. And Bruno was the better player. As simple as that.
