In 1981, Jimmy Carter walked out of the White House. He had been the most powerful man in the world. Leader of the United States. Commander-in-Chief. A man with access to anything, anywhere. Then suddenly, it was over. Most former presidents take a different path. Million-dollar speeches. Book deals. Private jets. A life far removed from ordinary people. Carter didn’t do that. He went home. Back to Plains, Georgia. A small town. No spotlight. No luxury lifestyle. And then he did something almost no one expected. He picked up a hammer. With Habitat for Humanity, Carter started building houses for people who couldn’t afford one. Not posing for photos. Not supervising. Working. Sweating under the sun. Carrying wood. Hammering nails. Side by side with volunteers. Year after year. Into his 70s. Into his 80s. Even into his 90s. This wasn’t a one-time gesture. He helped build and repair thousands of homes across the world. The same man who once sat behind the most powerful desk on Earth was now on rooftops, fixing homes for strangers. No cameras needed. No applause required. While others chased wealth after power, Carter chose something else. Service. He lived longer than any U.S. president in history. Long enough for people to look back and realize something simple. Power didn’t define him. What he did after power did. And in a world where leaders often take, he kept giving. Story based on historical records. This post is for educational purposes.

Sen. Tim Scott said on TV today that “gas prices continue to come down.” They’ve actually gone up over the last day, week, month, year, and since the Iran war started in February. House Majority Leader Steve Scalise said on TV today that gas prices are way down from “two years ago,” when they were “$6.” They’re actually up substantially from two years ago, when the national average was $3.66. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth suggested at a hearing yesterday that California’s average gas price the day the war started was “$8.” It was actually $4.64. Fact check: cnn.com/2026/04/30/pol…

Students and teachers surprised the sweetest school janitor with an incredible show of love while his wife battles cancer. A humble man who quietly does his job every day… and the whole school showed up for him. This is pure humanity. 🫶🙏

BREAKING: Trump casually shrugs off the massive insider trading scandal in his administration by claiming “the whole world has become a casino … it is what it is!” When asked point-blank in the Oval Office about suspicions of massive insider trading tied to his chaotic statements on Iran, Donald Trump didn’t deny it. He didn’t order an investigation. He just shrugged and delivered this cynical masterpiece: “You know, the whole world, unfortunately, has become somewhat of a casino… I don’t like it conceptually, but it is what it is.” In other words: Yeah, people with insider knowledge are probably making hundreds of millions betting on my next move. Oh well. That’s just how the world works now. This is typical Trump, a man so deep in corruption that he assumes everyone else is just as dirty as he is. When he screams that Democrats “cheat” on elections, he’s not mad they cheated. He’s mad they cheated better than he did. His complete disconnect from reality is on full display. While ordinary Americans bear the burdens of his reckless war, Trump treats the whole thing like it’s just another casino where the house (and his inner circle) always wins. He doesn’t see a problem. He sees it all as a game to acquire as much wealth as you can, by any means necessary, and his minions take heed. This is the moral bankruptcy of the Trump presidency in one pathetic shrug. If Trump’s “it is what it is” attitude toward corruption disgusts you, please like and share this post.

Many of the various coaches associations are discussing whether the current Competitive Balance plan is working in their sport. There is a feeling among many of them that they would like to see changes. Most significantly, there are concerns with teams moving up without winning state titles, and teams being moved up because of one strong class. Desire from many to either increase point thresholds, lengthen time of evaluation (five years is often discussed), or make it a requirement that a team must win a state title in order to trigger application of point threshold.

Competitive balance data from WIAA. About 1.5% of all teams are being elevated, and much more in some sports.
